African Mango Extract Controls Blood Pressure

Quite a lot of people experience high blood pressure problems, especially at older ages. Several factors, including nervous system and kidney disorders, hormonal imbalances, blockage in the arteries and increased quantities of salt and water in the body, increase the risk of hypertension. While modern medicine is a must in treating this kind of problems, a healthy lifestyle is also recommended. Part of this lifestyle, which involves controlling those sudden outbursts of anger, is also a proper diet. And part of that diet is usually a supplement that helps with hypertension. Such a supplement is the one that contains African Mango extract.

The benefits this extracts has on lowering blood pressure are indirect. According to the results of a clinical trial published in the May 2005 issue of the journal “Lipids in Health and Disease” African Mango seed extracts significantly lowered systolic blood pressure, which is the topmost number of a blood pressure reading and represents the pressure when the heart is beating. Furthermore the active extracts of African mango lower blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels, thereby lowering blood pressure. These results were confirmed by another clinical trial in the March 2009, which concluded that blood pressure is lowered due to improved lipid profile. Unfortunately these studies were conducted on obese patients, so for average weight people it may have a diminished effect where no real improvements can be observed. One last study conducted on laboratory animals published in 2005 in the “Journal of Food Technology” shows similar results, namely that oils extracted from the kernels of the African mango plant can lower the cholesterol and triglyceride levels in their blood and liver.

Even if all of this sounds very good, you should not get too excited. Three small studies are too small to be considered proof of African Mongo Extract having a real effect on blood pressure, especially because one of them was conducted on animals. The obese patients could probably get the most out of it, because reduced fat levels automatically means better blood flow. As long as you are not overweight, the improvements will probably be minimal at best, so you may not get your money’s worth.

Furthermore the African Mango extract should not be considered an alternative or a replacement of traditional medication. If you decide to use a supplement based on this extract checking with your doctor first is necessary. Besides the fact that you may be allergic or sensitive to the compounds found in the African Mango seeds, not all people should use the same dosage. Usually the more massive a person is, the bigger the dose must be.

In conclusion, while the African Mango extract could be a nice addition to healthy diet, it should not be regarded as necessary. Besides lowering cholesterol, it also has antioxidant properties so this is a bonus. If you decide to include it in you healthy lifestyle, be sure to avoid the high number of scams out there and get a legitimate product regardless of their prices.
